Julia Rose is now FIFTEEN months old! She is the apple of both her mama’s eyes and a little beam of light every place she goes! Just look at the gorgeous face this amazing kid has!

Holy Smokes!

This time has simply flown by! I can hardly believe that in just 8 weeks, we will be holding our sweet baby in our arms. It’s beyond what I can even explain, the excitement, and anxiety we both feel over this inevitable event. We completed a birthing class last week, and Annie left more shaken than I was at the video of the live birth. So many changes have occurred for me on all levels; emotional, spiritual, etc. that I feel very capable of labor and birth. I have a deep peace about it and know I will be fine. I know it’s gonna hurt like hell, but I know I can do it. Annie, in all her rugged ability to take on the hairiest situations with aplomb, is quite freaked! I explained that she’d aided in the delivery of countless puppies and horses, it’s not THAT much different. She’d even worked in an emergency room at one point. She said her anxiety centers mostly around a) seeing me in extreme pain and b) the bluish white state of the baby immediately after birth and c) the placenta, she thinks it looks totally gross… well and then of course d) that God forbid, something go wrong. Thanks to God’s glorious planning, we will be in Miami for the Julia’s birth and will have family support. I’m praying that my big sister might be able to take the time off from work to drive three hours down and be there for the birth. I can see her whipping me into shape should my confidence wane, she doesn’t tolerate unneccessary whining. We’ve loads of details to sort out, including transferring Medicaid from one state to another, but are putting our full faith and trust that all will fall easily into place. I know where I’m finding this unusual resolve. How can I not be overflowing with joyous, hopeful optimism when new life is growing and wiggling around inside me, at this very moment?

Hiccups!!!

Baby Julia has taken to hiccuping at 2AM and I LOVE it! At first, I didn’t know what to think of the repeated jumps, until I read about it on my weekly pregnancy update. Our little one is practicing breathing now! The little hiccups are absolutely the cutest thing I’ve ever felt.

Somersaults, Tumbling, and Kicks

What started as questionable tiny flutters are now unmistakeable rumblings in my tumbly. Our little girl is kicking and moving several times a day. She is especially active during meal times and when I lie down. She also startles when I cough or sneeze! It is so wonderful to feel her and know she’s there. Annie has been able to feel her too! We are both in complete awe at the miracle we are experiencing. We’ve started talking, reading, singing, and playing music for our darling. I am enjoying every minute of my pregnancy, and cherish each moment of it.

It’s A GIRL!!!

We had our twenty week ultrasound. Our baby GIRL is developing normally and is within the normal range for weight. It was the most amazing moment in my life thus far. Annie and I saw our baby’s little heart beating, watched her move her arms and legs, and turn her face as if to look at her future folks. We were both moved to tears with absolute joy. I have no idea how to upload the pdf scanned pics, but if anyone does know, feel free to let me know!

Intelligender

In a preggo magazine gifted to me by my bro, I came across an advertisement for “Intelligender”, a pee pee test which promised to determine your baby’s gender as early as 6 weeks. So, I sent Annie off to the drug store to pick one up. The results were very clear: GIRL! I can’t believe I’m going to be a mother! And I can’t believe I will be having a daughter! It’s absolutely amazing. I know I can’t count on the results until the u/s next month, but I swear that I already knew before the test anyway. So, now we’ve really got to get inspired and find a girl’s name. Eleanor? Abigail?

We heard the heartbeat today without the intrusive ultrasound probe! I’ve been so worrisome lately, and needed that affirmation of the heartbeat. Chuga chuga chuga chuga. Annie added, “Choo! Choo!” The doc said it was within the “girl range”. I’d love to have either gender, but just have this feeling it’s a girl. So, I’m on the hunt for a great name. It’s so much harder than I thought it would be! I’d agreed to let Annie choose the name Abigail, but I’m retracting that offer. She’s naming the boy, so it’s only fair that I choose the girl’s name right?
